Our History

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty"

(2 Corinthians 3:17)

Liberty Baptist Church began as a mission sponsored by Park Hill Baptist Church.  It was organized into a church in October 1952 with 20 charter members.  The Rev. David Abbott became the first Pastor.

The present building was started in August 1954, and was dedicated in 1955.  Growth required a new sanctuary, which was completed in 1961.  The Church, including two large, off the street parking areas, became completely debt free in July, 1976.

In addition to an active local ministry, which includes music ministry, Bible classes, Prayer Meetings, and evangelism from the pulpit, the Church also has a part in helping to support both home and foreign missionaries in over 12 different locations around the world.

With God’s help, it is the desire of every member of the church to live up to its motto – THE GOSPEL WE PREACH, THE LOST TO REACH!, and to cause many more to become aware of the glorious truth contained in the verse of Scripture from which the church obtained its name – “. . .where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY"!   ( 2 Corinthians 3:17)
